Originally fielded by the Artalan frontier militia (Kresowa Milicja Artalanu), which existed until 2451; produced 2442–2454, originally by Fahrzeugfabrik Zalewski, with Waffenfabrik Zalewski taking over production once it was founded as a separate arms company in 2450. Absorbed into the Artalan Armed Forces along with the militia after the Republic’s founding. Keeps its manufacturer name in AAF service — no separate designation. After absorbing the Onyx fleet, the AAF began using it as a modernization/rebuild platform for new specialist fits — see EQUIP_GROUND_ONYXF for the first of these. From 2455, a modernized successor, GPz.Ausf.4 “Onyx” (EQUIP_GROUND_ONYX4, AAF designation Centurion-MTV), entered production alongside this Ausf.3.
